Ten ways to show before and after reach: growth curves, twin panels, algorithm funnels, ledgers, and results walls with numbers that read real.
Case study
Maya Kessler posted three training reels a week for five months, and almost every one of them stalled near 2,100 views. The workouts were good. The reach was not.
Ascend's diagnostic showed where the algorithm dropped her: reels were dying at the unconnected reach stage because her hooks lost most viewers inside three seconds. She remixed her openings from the top fitness reels in the library, kept the workouts identical, and reposted on the same schedule.
Before and after
Twelve weeks before the remix against the eight weeks after it, measured on the same three posts a week.
2,100average views per reel
118,400average views per reel
Eight weeks, one line
Average views per reel for @maya.lifts, from the diagnostic run to the first six figure week.
Results
Different accounts, different formats, the same move: find where reach stalls, then remix what already works.
@maya.lifts went from 2,100 to 118,400 average views after remixing her hooks from the top reels in her niche.
Thistle and Main swapped product pans for the founder led format Ascend flagged, and lifted saves 4.2x.
Northpine Social scaled one proven talking head format across 6 client accounts and averaged 64 percent more reach.
Deep dive
The diagnostic put it in one sentence: reels reach followers, then stop. Unconnected reach had rejected every post since January because hook rate sat at 26 percent.
Ascend pulled the openings from the top fitness reels it watched that week and remixed them to her voice: claim first, proof inside three seconds, workout unchanged.
The first remixed post reached 6,900 non followers. By week 3 the unconnected stage was fully open and Explore became her biggest source of reach.
↑ Stuck here from January to March. Cleared in week 3.
Stage totals for the last 30 days of the study window.
Boutique retail
“I posted the same shop, the same racks, the same me. The only thing Ascend changed was the first five seconds, and suddenly people were saving reels to show their friends.”
Results wall
Four numbers from the case accounts. Ninety day windows, no paid reach anywhere.
Pulled from each account's Ascend diagnostic. Views, saves, and follows update in real time as reels move through the algorithm.
The ledger
Average views per reel before and after each account started remixing from the library.
Average views per reel across every post in the window, measured by each account's Ascend diagnostic.
Format progression
Three reels from @maya.lifts, same training block, different first five seconds.
Week 1
Workout first, no reason to stay. The reel never left followed reach.
Week 4
Claim first, proof by second three. First reel past the unconnected stage.
Week 8
One new opening line per post, workout untouched. Explore took it from there.
Algorithm diagnostic
The same account, eight weeks apart. The diagnostic shows exactly which stage rejected her reels, and what cleared it.
Hook rate 26 percent. Instagram stopped testing after followed reach: the reel never earned unconnected distribution.
Hook rate 58 percent. Cleared unconnected reach on the first remixed post and kept climbing through Explore.
